The Haifa police began an undercover and overt investigation into a significant increase in tensions between Maccabi fans and Hapoel Haifa.
The background for this is the break-in of a fan organization operating in an equipment warehouse that was used by Maccabi fan organizations, and the theft of flags to publish a video of them being burned.
Following the act, photos of the burglary suspects and threats that reached the point of murder were published on the networks.
"The flames must be calmed down, otherwise a disaster will happen here," said an official at the Haifa police, who added: "We are working on all fronts to calm this story down. The incitement on the networks goes beyond any limit, and in this matter too, there will be arrests as necessary. It only takes one stupid fan for a disaster to happen here ".
The police explained that the act of stealing equipment is considered by ultras organizations as an unforgivable act, and there have been cases in the world that ended in mass fights and unusual violence, something that the police will do everything to prevent between the organizations of Maccabi and Hapoel Haifa.
