Tiktuknu: Summary of the day in sports, 21.9 (Sport1)

Who among us did not collect stickers and football cards when he was a child?

Who among us - the parents - has not passed by a kiosk with their children and heard strong demands to buy them a pack of cards?

Well, in Argentina it turns out that the famous Panini stickers and albums just ran out.

And it became such a national problem that a government minister met with the National Kiosk Association (this is not an invention) and with the heads of the Panini-Argentina company to find solutions.

Argentina has unbridled soccer fever as part of its daily routine, but with the 2022 World Cup kicking off on November 20, records seem to be breaking.

The expectations are in the sky, the monkey got off the back with the victory in the Copa America and the citizen is in a frenzy.

A problem that reached the door of the government.

This week all the Panini stickers sold out in the South American country and before we continue, here is the explanation: in the early 1960s the Italian Panini brothers founded a company to market books, magazines, comic books, stickers, cards and more.

A few years later they signed an agreement with FIFA to market the official sticker album of the 1970 World Cup and the rest is history.

For decades "Panini" has been synonymous with the official soccer stickers and cards, which cross countries and continents. They are traded all over the world and are not considered one of them. Real collectors won't settle for a local brand or an imitation, and that's why everyone wants a panini in Argentina too. Everyone.

About a week and a half ago, Lionel Messi uploaded to his story a photo of one of his children working on his sticker album, with some empty packaging next to him. There is no greater symbol of the tremendous enthusiasm Around the matter. This week the product sold out on the shelves and kiosks and stores throughout Argentina started hanging signs: "Stickers and albums are out."

Panini's management is aware of the problem and said that part of the problem is that "this year a lot of adults returned to collect stickers".

Meanwhile in Argentina it is said that after the demand has defeated the supply, people are selling packs that they have not yet opened at a price that is three or four times higher than the original price.

A deck of five cards that cost around 150 pesos (about one dollar), now sells for about 400-500 pesos.

Lionel Messi stickers, by the way, are offered for sale on social media for 8,500 pesos (about $58).

Not deals that will make someone a rich person, but yes those that tell about madness.

Yesterday the Argentine government decided to intervene in the national crisis.

The Minister of Commerce, Matthias Tombolini, convened an emergency meeting with the participation of representatives from the Kiosk Association and the management of Panini-Argentina "in order to open a direct channel of communication and cooperate in order to find solutions".

So far there are no stickers, but everyone hopes that a solution will be found soon and above all that the World Cup will already start.
