The quarter-final stage of the Winner's Cup tournament opened tonight (Wednesday) and introduced the champion Hapoel Holon into the circle of games, who met Hapoel Galil Alyon in the new "Enerbox" hall in Hadera, for a meeting between two teams that know each other well in the replay of the playoff quarter-final series from last season, and at the end Hapoel Holon won 79:91.
Guy Goodes' purples arrived in their first game of the season as the reigning champions, and with a clear goal of getting their first victory in the pre-season, after five consecutive losses recorded so far this summer, in the preparation games in Israel and the Ange tournament in France.
On the other hand, Barak Peleg's team also underwent a facelift in the summer, during which three new foreigners were placed in the team out of the existing four, with the aim of continuing to fight for a place at the top of the league this year as well.
Hapoel Holon started the match more accurately and gained a double-digit lead of 11 points already in the first quarter.
The Northerners returned to the game in the second quarter and managed to reduce the difference to only two points in the middle of the quarter thanks to accurate shooting from outside the three-point arc and a wonderful play by Jaylen Hudson.
Into the third quarter, the Purples came up with a completely different energy and thanks to several defensive stops, they escaped to a promising double-digit gap of 18 points, which they successfully maintained until the end of the match.
In the meantime, the champion is anxiously monitoring the condition of CJ Harris, who was injured during the match and was taken to the hospital, fearing knee and groin injuries.
