A surprising and unusual development in Boston, just before the start of training: according to an ESPN report, the Celtics are expected to suspend coach Ima Yudoka for an extended period following a "violation of the code of conduct" of the club.
It is not clear what that disciplinary offense is, but according to Adrian Wojnarewski, the Celtics will soon make a decision regarding the punishment the coach will receive, and the high probability is that he will be removed from all team activities - which of course will significantly harm its preparation for the season.
At the same time, according to ESPN, there is currently no intention to fire Yudoka from his position due to the developments.
This is surprising news, partly due to the promising record of Yudoka, who was appointed the team's coach last summer after stints in San Antonio, Philadelphia and Brooklyn as an assistant coach.
The start of Yudoka's first season in the position was not easy, but he later managed to lead the Celtics to an impressive end of the regular season, and continued with it all the way to the NBA Finals, bringing the team back there for the first time in 12 years.

Disappointing and worrying news for Chicago fans: The Bulls announced tonight (Wednesday) that the team's guard, Lonzo Ball, will undergo arthroscopy surgery on his left knee, in Los Angeles on September 28, and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks.
Ball has been battling a knee injury since January, when he suffered a torn meniscus.
He underwent surgery on Jan. 28 to treat the problem, and the Bulls initially estimated his recovery time at six to eight weeks.
He continued to feel pain in his attempt to return to the courts and full activity, which kept him out for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

Now, the second surgery, which is actually the third he's had on his knee during his NBA career, will now sideline him until at least the end of October.
Four weeks from the surgery date is October 26th, six weeks is November 9th.
And this is only a time for evaluation and examination, not necessarily a return to activity.
The Bulls open training camp on September 27th and the season on October 19th, meaning Bulls misses all of camp and a significant portion of regular season games.
Last season he averaged 13 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 35 appearances, including 42.3 percent from three, in his first of four seasons in Chicago, during which he is set to make $80 million.
