Young wrestler Daniel Meyer from SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos takes second place in the DM as a younger year.

Hallbergmoos

- Great success for the 13-year-old wrestler Daniel Meyer from SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos.

At the German B youth championships in freestyle in Hohenlimburg (NRW), the young talent sensationally won the silver medal.

The achievement is all the more remarkable because Meyer belonged to the younger of the two cohorts there.

SVS chairman Michael Prill spoke of an outstanding success: "It's nice to see that the crazy ambition and training diligence have paid off." Accompanied by his trainer Jawad Mohammad, from whom Meyer had learned the wrestling ABC, the championships have already started on Friday with the first fight.

The Hallbergmooser clearly won this 7:2 against Felix Wächter from Jena.

The next day, the first challenge was already waiting before stepping onto the mat.

Because the young hope had to lose a few pounds quickly in order to reach the limit of 44 kilos.

At German championships, compliance with the weight is checked anew every day.

Prill: "It's just amazing how well Daniel took it."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The next opponent from Jena was waiting on the mat with Fabian Wächter, this time the SVS athlete prevailed with 12:10 after he was already 0:10 behind.

Due to the outstanding chase he was in the pool final against Lukas Rimpfl from TSV St. Wolfgang.

Meyer clearly prevailed 6:1 and thus made it into the final.

With the defending champion Iannis Lupu from VfK Radolfzell it was against the big favorite.

The Hallbergmooser showed an extraordinary performance and fought at eye level with last year's winner.

In the end, little things decided the duel, the Hallbergmooser lost narrowly with 2:4.

The talented wrestler may win the German championship title next year if he is allowed to compete against people of the same age.
