Because some of the players are still on vacation, the VSG Isar-Loisach volleyball team has postponed the start of the league game.

The newly promoted state league will play its first match on October 29th.

Wolfratshausen/Geretsried – The volleyball players at the VSG Isar-Loisach know that you can't rest on your laurels as an athlete.

At the end of March, they completed the greatest success in the club's history, moving up to one of the four Bavarian state leagues as undefeated district league champions.

"The boys were extremely hard-working throughout the summer," reports team manager Bernhard Wilhelm of numerous assignments by the volleyball players from Wolfratshausen and Geretsried at beach tournaments.

Preparations for the new season, which begins on October 1st in the South-East Group, have already begun.

However, things are still a bit slow here.

"At the moment there are only five to six men in training because a number of players went on vacation in September," said the VSG spokesman.

For this reason, he also postponed the first state league dates - the promoted team will be in action for the first time on Saturday, October 29, at VC/DJK Passau.

The first home game day takes place a week later on Saturday, November 5th.

Then at 2.30 p.m. TSV Mühldorf II and TSV Schönberg will be guests in the new Geretsrieder sports hall on Jahnstraße.

The other competitors of the VSG are the MTV Munich III, Rote Raben Vilsbiburg, SG Grafing/Bruckmühl, TSV Unterhaching II,

TSV Vaterstetten and fellow climbers TuS Holzkirchen.

At the end of August, coach Nabil Habboubi's team took part in a top-class tournament organized by VC Eitting and took an excellent third place.

"We only lost against the two regional league clubs, but we won against three Bayern league teams," says Wilhelm happily.

His conclusion: "We're not worried that we can't keep up in the national league."

However, there are two bad news.

The training situation for the entire volleyball division is not ideal at the moment, as the Farchet multi-purpose hall cannot be used for an indefinite period due to the housed war refugees from Ukraine.

"It's a shame that there was no response from the city of Wolfratshausen after our request," regrets the team spokesman.

They are currently trying to accommodate the entire training operation in the new Geretsrieder Halle - not an easy task, with four adult, two mixed and four junior teams.

In addition, Coach Habboubi will have to do without Fabian Liemer in the new season.

The outside attacker returned to his home club last summer after three years at TSV Mühldorf – including promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga South.

The 30-year-old has now signed off for an indefinite period because of a sabbatical, a professional and private break.

Wilhelm: "A loss for the team that we have to absorb somehow."
