Will he be able to do it?
The French national team may very soon have a new top scorer and he is none other than Olivier Giroud, striker of Milan.
Last night (Thursday), in a 0:2 win over Austria in the Nations League, the Frenchman scored his team's second and raised his record to 49 caps in the tricolor uniform - only two away from Thierry Henry, who is still at the top with 51.
In addition, Giroud broke a 63-year-old record, when at the age of 35 and 357 he became the oldest scorer in the history of the French national team.
The previous record belonged to Roja Marsh, who did it in 1959, at the age of 35 and 287 days.

Earlier, national team coach Didier Deschamps commented on Giroud's inclusion in the squad for the upcoming World Cup: "May he continue to be effective, but don't interpret anything. I don't know if he'll be there or not, but he's doing everything to make sure he is."
Of course, the reactions on the web were not long in coming either.
Some surfers wrote that Giroud "must be in Qatar", and there was someone who wrote that now "it's a confrontation between Giroud and Benzema on the way to the World Cup".
