Another good week, then the new season begins in the ice hockey Bavarian league.

The Erding Gladiators still have two more time to warm up.

Coach Andy Becher can welcome two short-term newcomers to his team, but he also has to accept a personal setback.

Erding

– The Gladiators will have to deal with two top division teams at the end of the test match series in their home hall: Tonight at 8 p.m. against EV Füssen, on Sunday at 6 p.m. EHC Klostersee.

Erding's record player Daniel Krzizok will be missing.

The 34-year-old has informed coach Becher that he is no longer available for professional and family reasons.

He left open whether and when he would return to the team, reports Gladiators spokesman David Whitney, who very much regrets the development.

It is all the more important that two new players who had already been used in preparation have joined the squad.

On the one hand there is 22-year-old Mario Strobel.

Born in Regensburg, who was already under contract with the Saale Bulls and the Harzer Falken, he spent the last two years at Bayernliga competitor ERSC Amberg, where he played with Ryan Murphy.

"He now lives in the Munich area and I think the Mario is a good investment for the future," says Whitney.

Last season, the attacker scored ten points in 29 games with the Wild Lions.

He got a contract until the end of the season.

On the other hand, Marc Barchmann, whose birth name is Weigant, received a four-week tryout contract.

The 36-year-old was last with his twin brother Patrick Weigant in the service of EHC Königsbrunn, and Andy Becher was their coach there.

Contact was made through him.

"It doesn't hurt if we're a little broader in the squad," said spokesman Whitney.

"Last season, unfortunately, we were a little short-staffed and often had to start with the last squad because we had so many absentees.

That shouldn't happen this year.” wk
