The SE Freising is in the regional league southeast on a high flight.

Coach Florian Bittner explains what has changed after the bad start.

Freising

– After a bumpy start, things are now going well for the SE Freising footballers.

With six wins from eleven games - including five in a row - the Freisingers are in fifth place.

The tied table leaders Ampfing and Landshut only have one point more.

Before the away game at FC Unterföhring (Friday, 7.30 p.m.), player-coach Florian Bittner, who is currently out due to a torn fibre, takes stock of the first season and explains how the turnaround after the stuttering start was successful.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Mr. Bittner, what is the conclusion after the first third of the season?

Positive, of course, especially when you look at past games.

Before the season started, we honestly didn't expect it to be such a bumpy start.

We had imagined it very differently.

But the way we have developed, from the cohesion in the team, from the willingness to run and from the mentality of wanting to win, that is now very good.

This runs through training and games.

What has changed after the disaster start?

To a certain extent it was a question of attitude, and in the preparation and the first games we as a coaching team perhaps wanted too much from the individual players.

We have a very young team, so you have to approach tactical things more slowly.

It's now working very well, the team is sticking to the match plan.

The key to success is that we believe in something together.

And right now we have luck on our side.

Is the Landesliga Southeast as open as it has been for a long time?

At least as long as I follow the league.

After the eleventh day of play, it's so little difference up and down!

You can't afford to make any mistakes there.

After five wins in a row – have the demands of the team increased?

We can definitely rule that out at the moment.

We wanted to achieve a certain goal this year, and that still applies.

We are currently on target, let's see what comes out in the end.

For you it is the first station as head coach.

Is this how you imagined it?

Because I had been there as an assistant coach for some time, it was a bit easier for me.

But of course it was a change to be in charge alone or with my assistant coach.

But I do have the impression that the team fully accepts us.

And the support from those responsible is also great.

How does the coach Florian Bittner judge the performance of the player Florian Bittner?

You can tell from my playing times that I'm a bit older - that's slowing me down.

Basically I'm satisfied, it was different at the beginning of the season.

In the meantime, however, I have the necessary instinct, for example for the right substitutions.

Currently, the SEF has already used 26 players.

To what extent is that your great trump card?

That's definitely a point.

However, it is also a matter of trust, taking on players who still have deficits and throwing them in at the deep end.

In fact, we've never played with the same eleven recently.

On Friday it's against your former club, FC Unterföhring.

Still a special game?

It will always be like this as long as I play.

I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm also annoyed that I can't play because of an injury.

There are still some players there that I know.

But only my team counts in the 90 minutes.
