The German national team has lost the first of three dress rehearsals before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
After the game there was great disillusionment.

The team of national coach Hansi Flick (57) did not do well in the Nations League home game against Hungary and lost 0-1.
The DFB team not only messed up the first of the three remaining international matches before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but also missed out on winning the group and the knockout stages of the Nations League.

Hansi Flick was in office after his first defeat.
"We all imagined something different," said the national coach in an interview with the German Press Agency.
“The first half was definitely the worst in the 14 international matches.

Ilkay Gündogan (31) struck the same note after the game in the mixed zone.
"Lots of simple mistakes, lots of ball losses, lots of bad passes," saw the Manchester City midfielder.
"Overall we were very slow, very sluggish, hardly flexible," criticized Gündogan, who, however, noticed an increase in performance after the break: "It improved a bit in the second half, the game was more fluid." But the performance of the DFB Teams was still a big disappointment.

"Nevertheless, I believe that with our standards, we know that we can do more and actually have to show more," Gündogan summed up.
Hansi Flick demanded that the right conclusions be drawn from the performance in the first round.
He also took responsibility for the defeat.
The transfer of Jonas Hofmann (30) to the right-back position, who previously excelled on the wing in the DFB dress, proved to be a mistake.

"We tried something in the line-up that didn't work that well.
That's why I have to take responsibility for part of the whole thing," Hansi Flick admitted to his own mistakes.
“We now expect everyone to work on one or the other.
Because that must be our goal, that we go to Qatar as strong as possible,” the national coach continued.

“Perhaps it was also important to realize that you have to have the best attitude.
And certainly even more in the direction of Qatar, because precisely these tactical things cannot be rehearsed at all.
The mentality, the will and the aggressiveness will count all the more,” stated Oliver Bierhoff (54).
"We have to have the ambitions, but of course you have to be realistic and know what you're bringing to the table.
That everything is required from the first second in order to be able to survive," said the DFB managing director.
Even if the disillusionment is great, “the goal remains.
We also start from scratch at the tournament."
