Rats vs. SCR: A derby that challenged both teams

The preparatory game against SC Reichersbeuern ended on Friday evening with a 4:3 victory for the Geretsrieder River Rats.

Geretsried/Reichersbeuern – The preparatory game between ESC Geretsried and SC Reichersbeuern last Friday evening went as expected: The River Rats lived up to their role as favorites in the 4:3 (1:1, 1:0, 2:2) win;

as the reigning state league champions, the guests showed that they could also play in a league higher.

"It was clear that this would be our most difficult test match," said ESC coach Stefan Roth, who agreed with the course as well as his colleague Thomas Gams.

"I am happy.

We were challenged and saw that we can keep up with the Bavarian league," said the SCR coach.

His team took the lead after three minutes through Peter Fischer with a majority.

Then Geretsried determined what happened, but the SCR defended cleverly and had a strong backing between the posts with Kilian Haltmair.

Shortly before the first siren, the home side made it 1-1 through Benedikt May.

In the second third, Josef Reiter made it 2:1 early on (23rd).

As a result, the River Rats clearly dominated and also had a number of chances.

"The quality of the shot has to be better," Roth complained in view of the many pucks that missed the target.

Towards the end of this section, Reichersbeuern came back into play and had the best chances on breaks by Peter Fischer and Maximilian Hirschberger.

However, the guests only managed to equalize 2:2 in the final third through Johannes Fischer (45th).

The River Rats then showed that they really wanted to win the game.

First, Stephan Englbrecht outwitted the substitute SCR goalie Michael Iszovics (50') with a flick, then Ondrej Horvath slammed the puck into the cross corner to make it 4-2 (52').

Despite the home side's best chances, Peter Fischer finally marked the final point with the 4:3 (60th).
