Football clubs have partly averted the exploding energy costs.

There could be problems with the ice in the Weihenstephan Arena.

District

– According to the "amateur football barometer", a survey by the DFB, significantly more sports facilities in Bavaria are owned by the clubs (54.1 percent) than by the municipalities (21.1 percent).

These clubs can thus independently take energy-saving measures in their own games and restaurants.

Nevertheless, 55.5 percent of those surveyed from the Free State fear that their club will be at financial risk as a result of the rising energy costs.

A little more than half of the clubs had already implemented measures to save energy.

FC Moosburg and SC Kirchdorf are already saving on lighting

At FC Moosburg, cold showers are not an issue for the time being, says chairman Franz Riederer.

In the Driescher Sportpark, the water is heated by a solar system.

Ten years ago, his predecessors acted with the necessary foresight and installed a photovoltaic system for power generation in addition to the solar system.

But the topic of energy and the environment is always in focus at FCM.

"We are currently in the process of implementing a decision and replacing all of our lights, some of which are still old vapor lights, on the entire system with energy-saving LED lights," says Riederer.

“By doing this, we want to save more than 60 percent in electricity costs in the future.

The applications for this are already underway and we hope to be able to start the exchange in 2022.

At the district football club SC Kirchdorf, department head Stefan Lohmeier is relaxed about the autumn months.

The floodlight system was only recently renewed to save energy, and the costs incurred for electricity and oil on the club's own system had to be borne by the SCK itself.

Due to the currently high costs, it is in the interest of all members to pay attention to energy consumption, but serious requirements are not yet under discussion.

However, he had heard from members of the handball department that cold showers would have to be taken during away games in Erding in the coming season.

The decision of the neighboring district has already gotten around.

TSV Au: New sports home would be the best energy saving method

The Mauern footballers' facility is heated with gas, which is why they are also directly affected by the cost explosion.

Nevertheless, according to chairman Björn Braun, no extreme restrictions are currently being considered.

We want to observe the development a little before making a decision.

A recent inspection of the gas tank gave no cause for concern.

"We were still filling up in the spring, where we were laughed at by many, now we're smiling," says Braun.

Nevertheless, it is also planned in Mauer that there should be less heating in winter than in previous years.

How this will look in detail must be clarified so that the currently plentiful gas supply can last as long as possible.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Stefan Schaipp, the head of the football department at TSV Au, has not yet received any energy-saving guidelines.

The football boss definitely sees potential: “The best energy-saving concept for us would be if we finally built a new sports center.” The old sports center is currently heated with oil, and the tank should be enough for the winter.

"All in all, however, such savings campaigns on the part of the municipalities are tricky," says the division head.

"If I send a team out on the pitch in November and say you can only take a cold shower afterwards.

And what happens then?

The athletes then sat in the car sweaty, drove home and took a warm shower there.” This only shifts the problem,

Andreas Sten, deputy head of department at the Black Bears Freising district ice hockey league, is not aware that the city or the association will issue separate energy requirements for the coming season.

When traveling to training or games, the Black Bears have long made sure that carpools are formed or that the bus is shared on long trips away from home, according to the deputy department head.

New, energy-saving refrigeration system in the Weihenstephan Arena

Irrespective of developments in the Ukraine, a new cooling system was installed in the Weihenstephan Arena this summer as planned.

Instead of the previous six, only two compressors will work in the future, which are significantly more efficient and energy-saving than the previous model.

At the same time, a heat exchanger for the exhaust air was also installed.

Due to bearing and crankshaft damage in both compressors, however, ice preparation has been delayed (we reported).

The Freisinger cracks and the friends of ice sports will probably only be able to start in calendar week 43 (October 25th to 31st).

"A super meltdown," says Sten. In this context, FW city councilor Benno Zierer, who had suggested closing the ice rink for the whole season due to the late opening anyway, caused a stir.

to save energy (see local page 1).

The city will receive six-figure federal subsidies for the new refrigeration system – but only if the new device is connected to the grid before the end of this year.

The ice machine is already running in the Moosburg Clariant Arena.

Because since September 12, the first training sessions of the ice hockey state league club EV Moosburg for the new season have been taking place there on the finished ice surface.

According to EVM board member Robert Warth, it remains to be seen whether there will be any announcements from the city administration about serious savings measures in the game and training operations in the course of the season.
