Bayern league football club VfB Hallbergmoos missed a few great chances at FC Ingolstadt II and ended up losing 4-1.

Hallbergmoos

– Even if the numbers suggest otherwise: VfB Hallbergmoos' performance at FC Ingolstadt 04 II was really good.

After the redeeming 2-1 win against FC Ismaning the week before, the VfB team presented themselves as strong as a bear against one of the best teams in the Bayernliga Süd on Friday evening and finally conceded an unfortunate 1: 4 (1: 1) - Defeat.

In Ingolstadt, completely new tactical options revealed themselves after the return of several injured players.

This time Andreas Giglberger acted as a six in front of a back three with Brandon Happi Monthe, Christoph Mömkes and Carl Opitz, the short-term absence of Johannes Petschner was well compensated by Tobias Krause.

In the Hallbergmoosers there is again competition in all parts of the team.

Hallberger fans make the away kick a home game

Of the 60 spectators in Ingolstadt, it felt like 55 came from Hallbergmoos and made the game a home game.

And the fans were rewarded for their loud support with a strong performance: the guests defended compactly, played courageously forward and were the significantly better team in the first round.

With VfB leading 3-0 at half-time, nobody could have complained to the home side.

But it only rang once in the FCI box: After a fantastic move, defender Christoph Mömkes scored to make it 1-0 (35 ').

Fabian Diranko, who had a free shot, and Andreas Giglberger, whose header was cleared by an FCI player on the line, had other great chances.

The VfB kickers should have scored more than just one goal from the three options.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

And so there was a cold shower on the other side: three minutes after the opening goal, a ball from David Udogu rolled past friend and foe into the goal, the equalizer was flattering.

"You're playing against the best team in the league and you get a goal like that," coach Matthias Strohmaier later complained about the goal that made it 1-1.

By then, his team had definitely confirmed the upward trend after the win from the previous week and had done a lot of things right.

Double Strike within 150 seconds

In the second half, VfB continued to play well and were then mercilessly thrown off course within 150 seconds.

When Ingolstadt made it 2-1 (60th), a long ball from Hallbergmoos came back immediately – the defense wasn't prepared for that.

Shortly thereafter, double packer Egson Gashi hit a Sunday shot (62nd) - that decided the game.

Donald Nduka's 4:1 (86th) was only of statistical value.

It is no coincidence that the extremely efficient team from Ingolstadt has meanwhile climbed to first place in the table.

VfB coach Strohmaier is not influenced by the result, he saw another step forward in view of the performance.

With a performance like that at Ingolstadt II, there is no need to worry before the thriller in the basement on Friday, October 7th, against bottom-placed TSV 1860 Rosenheim.
