Leader SV Heilbrunn catches up 2-0 behind at Hellas Munich and saves themselves with two goals to a draw against eleventh in the table.
Munich/Bad Heilbrunn – The people from Heilbrunn had already written that point off.
That's why the disappointment in the district league leader was limited, who caught up a 0:2 deficit on Sunday afternoon and saved a point with the 2:2 equalizer with a double strike at table eleventh FC Hellas Munich.
Point saved in 'difficult game'
"You usually go home without any points," says coach Walter Lang.
Shortly after switching to a three-man defensive line, the goal came to make it 0:2 – “as a player you actually hang your heads”.
Not so the people of Heilbrunn, who kept pushing forward.
First Benedikt Specker shortened the penalty after a foul on Anton Pappritz.
Two minutes later, Andreas Specker executed a nice cross from Maximilian Schnitzlbaumer from ten meters to equalize.
Out of nowhere with two goals behind
It was a difficult game for the league leaders.
He had expected that: small artificial turf field, a tricky, spirited opponent.
"We didn't do much wrong, but Hellas are not a bad team," Lang concedes.
The first half hour was mutually scanned.
Then the guests increased the pressure.
"But we got a goal out of nowhere," says Lang.
A Munich free kick, extended twice, and somehow Omar Berbic's ball landed in the Heilbrunner goal – 0:1.
Conversion, and bang: the second goal conceded
After the change, Lang switched to a three-man defense and pulled Maximilian Schnitzlbaumer on the offensive to generate more power.
But after the break it was more up to the hosts: Shortly after the restart, Paul Odunlade made it 2-0.
"You build up the opponent," says Lang.
"But we continued to play normally, respect." That's why his team deserved the point, the HSV coach thinks.
Even victory would have been in there.
The game went back and forth in the hectic final phase.
"We were maybe even closer to a goal," says Lang.
"But there was nothing compelling about it and a draw after the game is the fair result."
The Heilbrunn pursuers approached each other through victories.
But the lead in the standings remains at Heilbrunn.
