"Not the easiest phase" - Müller's streak of bad luck continues in the national team

Thomas Müller is currently going through difficult times.

Unfortunately, the game between Germany and Hungary with the national team did not turn things around.

Munich – FC Bayern has had a difficult few weeks: Thomas Müller was unable to win four games in a row with the Bayern squad, and in the end it was only enough for a 0-1 draw against FC Augsburg.

Not easy to work your way out of such a low.

In addition, Müller was broken into during a Champions League game.

The last international matches before the World Cup fall in this phase of all things, and Müller probably went to Leipzig hoping that his streak of bad luck was over.

Unfortunately, this hope was disappointed.

Müller is captain – but the national team loses

After Manuel Neuer's departure due to illness, Thomas Müller took over the captain's armband - after all, he has by far the most international caps in the remaining team and is the most experienced player.

On Friday, however, he was unable to provide the necessary impetus for the national team: Germany lost 1-0 to Hungary.

Müller was sobered afterwards on ZDF: "The first half was really disappointing - also for us on the pitch".

"We made a lot of mistakes.

Maybe you noticed that the current phase in the club is not the easiest for many people,” Müller tried to explain the poor performance against the Hungarians.

In fact, none of the four Bayern stars set up by Flick could convince in the match: neither Thomas Müller, nor Joshua Kimmich or Serge Gnabry.

Not even Leroy Sané, who is currently showing strong form.

Therefore, national coach Hansi Flick also drew consequences and sent Gnabry and later Müller off at halftime.

Flick's error analysis sounds all-encompassing: "We played a very bad first half.

We didn't have enough courage.

We didn't occupy the rooms as we had planned.

We weren't active and played without confidence," said the national coach after the game.

He, too, was hoping that the Bayern players could get away from their problems in the league: "It was often the case that the national team took things in a different direction.

We also hoped that we could support the clubs a bit with a good game in Leipzig.” Instead, the German national team has now suffered its first defeat under head coach Hansi Flick.

Everyone practice looking ahead.

Flick hopes that the match has shaken up his players: "It is the case that games like this sometimes happen.

The team has been woken up,” he says.

Thomas Müller also demonstrates purposeful optimism: “Of course we know about the situation just before the World Cup.

It is written.

But we have to get over it and continue to follow the concept given by the coach,” said Müller.

It wouldn't be the first time that veteran Müller has worked his way out of a difficult phase.

The next test will follow tonight: the German team will play against England in the Nations League.
