Araujo will undergo surgery and may cause a three-month low

The Uruguayan center-back attends to the advice of the Barça doctors and will hardly play the World Cup

Ronald Araujo will undergo surgery this Wednesday for the "avulsion of the adductor longus tendon of the right leg" that he suffered last Friday just after the start of the Uruguay-Iran match played in Austria.

The intervention, which will take place at the Neo Hospital of Turku, in Finland, will be performed by Dr. Lasse Lampainen.

The 23-year-old player could be absent for a period of about three months and, therefore, it will be difficult for him to participate with Uruguay in the World Cup in Qatar, which begins on November 20.

Araujo prefers to ensure a good recovery rather than opt for a conservative treatment that does not guarantee his presence in the next edition of the World Cup.

Uruguay debuts on November 24 against South Korea.

The possibility of participating in the appointment of Qatar happens in any case by an operation and quick recovery in the opinion of the medical services of the Barça.

It has been the doctors of the Barça club, and specifically Ricard Pruna, who have advised the central defender to undergo surgery by one of Sakari Orava's disciples.

The doctors understand that the operating room was already the best solution for players who went through similar situations such as Sergi Roberto and Dembélé.

There have been other players, on the other hand, who opted for a more conservative treatment such as Umtiti and lately Ansu Fati, whose return to the team is slower than expected, after the muscle injury suffered in January at Balaídos.

Araujo, in any case, will not reappear with Barcelona until the derby that will be played on December 30 or 31 at the Camp Nou.

He will therefore not participate in the Champions League matches against Inter, Bayern Munich or Vickoria Plsen, nor in the League against Mallorca, Celta, Real Madrid, Villareal, Athletic, Valencia, Almería and Osasuna.

Koundé, injured with France, will also be out for a period of approximately one month and therefore it will be difficult for him to play the Bernabéu classic.

The Barça club is yet to determine, on the other hand, the extent of the injuries to Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong.

The striker's injury, affected in the hamstring of his right leg, could be for a few weeks while that of the Dutch midfielder seems less serious and could be available within 15 days.

Barça plays next Saturday in Mallorca and next week they travel to the San Siro to face Inter.
