Wafer-thin victory in the cauldron of Unterharmersbach

The sports bowlers of VfB Hallbergmoos saved a lead of 14 wood to the finish in Unterharmersbach and thus celebrated their second victory.

– In the end, 14 wood made the difference: The sports bowlers from VfB Hallbergmoos won at SKC Unterharmersbach, one of the two promoted players in the Bundesliga, with 5:3 points, 12.5:11.5 sets and 3686:3672 wood and with that clinched their second win of the season on the second day of the game.

The Unterharmersbach fans supported their players loudly from the start, created a great atmosphere - and saw exciting duels.

VfB bowler Dietmar Brosi had to deal with Axel Schondelmaier – an ex-Zerbster with international experience.

This took 1.5 set points from Brosi, but in the end the Hallberger had the team counter in his pocket with 2.5:1.5 sets and 600:598 wood.

His VfB colleague Lukas Funk showed Julien Schmitt what to do right from the start: the youngster scored the best result of the day with his 665 wood.

Schmitt (617 cones), who had also played internationally, was only able to steal the third set.

VfB Hallbergmoos pulls away

The guests were thus in the lead with 1265:1215 wood - and of course Mario Nüsslein and Tobias Kramer wanted to extend that.

Nüsslein had the game against Pascal Dräger absolutely under control in the first three sets.

He only had to give up fourth place, but scored the next point with 645:610 wood and 3:1 sets.

Kramer was denied that: He was able to win the first section against Sascha Gonschorek, but the Unterharmersbacher always won the next three sets with a few wood difference.

In the end the counter went to the hosts, Kramer was at a disadvantage with 607:621 Holz.

The VfB lead is melting

With a 3:1 lead and a lead of 71 wood, we went to the last lanes.

But anyone who believed that the Hallbergers had already secured victory was taught a lesson: SKC player Frederic Koell played strongly, only gave Bogdan Tudorie the second round and retained the upper hand with 644:595 Holz.

This reduced VfB's lead by 49 wood.

In the last game it was all or nothing - and it was a tight affair: Unterharmersbacher Chris Dambacher won sets one and three, Matthias Dirnberger and substitute Patrick Krieger won the second and fourth sections.

Since Dambacher had played 582 wood and Hallbergmoos only had 574 wood on the scoreboard, the team point went to the hosts - that was the 3:3.

Nevertheless, it was enough for VfB Hallbergmoos in the end - thanks to the two points for the better overall number of 3686:3672.

So the team got away with a black eye again on Saturday.
