Israel's junior team qualified for the Junior Euros for the third time in its history this evening (Tuesday), after beating Ireland 1:3 in a penalty shootout.
It went as close, as dramatic as possible: after the 1:1 in Dublin, the scoreboard showed 0:0 at the end of 90 minutes in Bloomfield, then 0:0 also at the end of 120 minutes.
Guy Luzon's stars have already gone to the bench, but you don't need shining stars when you have Daniel Peretz in goal.
The goalkeeper of Maccabi Tel Aviv deflected three kicks by the opponent, and sent the team almost single-handedly to the tournament that will be held next summer in Romania and Georgia.

I didn't want to take a risk at the end and be stung in an outburst. I believed it would be fine. We were worth a win in this game, and in the end the better team won. I am happy for these players. I experienced the Euros in 2013, and I am happy for the players, for all the children and fans who were here, I arranged for all the players a vacation in Bucharest. When I arrived at the team I said That I believe it is possible to take the team to the Euros, I am happy that I arrived, it was the right decision, and we are facing the Euros."
This achievement comes after the success of the youth team and Luzon was proud: "They kept talking about the mentality of the Israeli player, I never believed it. We have the best soldiers in the world. This is nonsense. I went through many games, many anthems, today it moved me to tears" .
