The farewell gala for Anton Saal, Simon Maier and Ty Morris at EC Peiting was a well-rounded affair.

The trio was also able to look forward to a runaway victory.

Peiting – EC Peiting in the stadium on Alfons-Peter-Straße on the guest bench?

Something like that only happens on a special occasion, and that definitely happened on Saturday.

The premier league hosted a farewell gala for three ECP legends, who finally gave up their skates as Peitingen players after last season.

Anton Saal, Simon Maier and Ty Morris said goodbye to the fans.

In keeping with the occasion, this happened as part of a game in which many of the trio's former companions stepped onto the ice.

The celebrity squad competed against the current ECP Oberliga team.

"The game was really cool.

We had a lot of fun and it was great to see the old guys again," said Morris in a good mood after the end of the game.

The backdrop of almost 400 spectators and a 13:4 victory by the AST team (Anton-Simon-Ty) did the rest to ensure a good mood.

"I'm back home, I'm fine there," said ex-Peitinger Nardo Nagtzaam, who had traveled all the way from Weiden for the game.

But other players in the Legends team, such as Billy Trew or Peter Abstreiter, also had to travel quite a distance to be there.

However, it was a home game for ex-national player Thomas Oppenheimer, who also wore the legends jersey.

The numbers 7, 15 and 21 were printed on the front of the black shirts to match the earlier Morris, Maier and Saal shirt numbers.

He can still do it on the target: Billy Trew (r., Straubing among others) contributed a goal to the 13:4 victory.

Right from the start it was on the agenda for both teams to let the target run properly.

The request from ECP defender Alex Winkler to his teammates to play more with their bodies, "because there are no friends on the ice", was probably to be seen as a psychological trick to unsettle the opponents.

The Oberliga team held back noticeably when it came to duels against the selection, in which Markus Bleicher (54) and Billy Trew (48) were among the oldest players.

The disc went back and forth so quickly.

Both goalkeepers – Konrad Fiedler kept the goal for the ECP, Florian Hechenrieder stood between the posts for the AST team – also got a lot to do.

The selection, with Milos Vavrusa, Rob Brown and Brad Miller providing the international component, quickly established a 5-1 lead, with the three stars of the day also contributing assists and goals.

The ECP, who had drawn their composition of rows before the game, largely let the old masters do their thing afterwards.

The spectators were offered a few delicacies, such as Manfred Eichberger's 11:3, in which "Magic Manni" loaded the ECP goalie and slid it in with one hand.

In the end, however, the result was secondary.

Everyone involved had a lot of fun and the fans who got autographs also got their money's worth.
