The legend Michael Phelps in Figaro: "Depression rubs shoulders with us much more than we think"

BIG INTERVIEW – While in Paris, the most successful athlete in the history of the Olympic Games spoke about his current life, and the difficulties he was able to go through during his career.

It's hard not to feel infinitely small in front of Michael Phelps when he welcomes you from the top of his 193 centimeters and his broad shoulders.

Even six years after his retirement, at the end of the Olympic Games in Rio where he gleaned five titles to bring his total to 23 gold medals - which makes him the most successful athlete in Olympic history -, the American remains physically very sharp.

As if he was ready to dive back into the pools tomorrow.

Came to Paris with his wife Nicole and well surrounded by his partner for almost 20 years, Omega, the swimmer from Baltimore took the time to confide in Figaro.

Without ever losing his smile and his outspokenness.

- How is your life as a young retiree from the pools?

Michael PHELPS.

Everything is fine, I can't complain.

Even away from the pools, I'm always very busy, I travel a lot, whether for my sponsors or for my foundation, and it's very pleasant.
