Combo guard Eric Green (31, 1.90) officially signed with champion Hapoel Holon, the team announced this morning (Wednesday).
After the injury of CJ Harris in the Winner's Cup, which, as I recall, is expected to disable him for a period of two to three months, the club's management worked intensively to find a suitable replacement for Harris and, as mentioned, signed Green.
The desire in the club was to sign a high level player with a proven resume in Europe, not an easy thing at this point in time, and they finally managed to sign Eric Green for a period of three months.
Green is a graduate of Virginia Tech College, where he graduated with an average of 13.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
He played 52 games in the NBA in Denver, Utah and Toronto uniforms.
The player has a rich past in several big teams in Europe.
His first stop after finishing his career in the NBA was the Greek Olympiakos where he scored 9.4 points, grabbed 2.3 rebounds and averaged 1.4 assists per game.
He then continued to the Spanish Valencia, averaging 12.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. His next stop in Europe was with the Turkish Fenerbahce where he averaged 9.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 rebounds per game.
His best season in Europe was in the Turkish Bakashir where he scored 17.9 points, delivered 3.4 assists and picked up 3.2 rebounds on average per game.
He also played two terms in the Chinese league and finished the last season in Treviso in Italy where he averaged 14 points, 2.7 assists and 2 rebounds per game.
The team's coach, Guy Goodes, said about Green's signing: "We are happy about the addition of Eric to take the place of CJ, who is currently sidelined due to a knee injury. He is an excellent scorer with a lot of experience in Europe, including the Euroleague. We hope for a quick acclimatization so that he can help us in goals".
