"Blackmail and abuse: PSG president at the heart of a scandal", reads a headline in the French newspaper "Libération" today (Thursday).
The daily publishes a major investigation into the Qatari methods under Nasser al-Khalaifi which include death threats, confidential documents and torture.
Although the Parisian club is not involved in the affair and the reports, there is no doubt that the club experienced difficult moments following the three-page investigation.
According to the report, a 41-year-old French-Algerian entrepreneur known as "Taib B" was arrested in Doha in early 2020. He was imprisoned in Qatar for nine months.
He had a number of confidential documents on the private and professional life of the PSG president as well as on his Qatari associates, including further evidence of Qatar's alleged corruption in the context of hosting the World Cup.

According to "a source close to these investigations, defined as particularly sensitive" who spoke to the newspaper, "Tayeb B" wanted to "profit from the documents" in order to receive "reward or money".
The Qataris wanted to ensure that these confidential documents could never be made public or published, thus tarnishing the reputation and status of Nasser al-Khalaifi, close to Qatari emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
Taib B is described by "Liberation" as a "frantic entrepreneur with a huge network", managing no less than 15 companies.
He has settled in Doha with his family since 2019. The French-Algerian, who invests in the Gulf and Africa, claims to have met Al-Khalaifi in 2017 through business activities with PSG and beIN Sports.
In order to free her husband, Taib's wife had to travel between Qatar and Algeria several times, while her husband was transferred to a prison where he was in total isolation, in "inhumane" conditions, according to the report, in which he wrote that "sometimes he was forced to sit without moving and without speaking for dozens hours" trying to break it.
His wife's mission was to deliver to Qatar a "red suitcase" that contained a number of confidential documents and digital information, when she was strictly forbidden to contact the French police.
After long discussions and negotiations with Al-Khalaifi's lawyers, all the USB keys were returned to Qatar.
On June 15, two on-key discs were delivered and the last one was finally returned on July 1, which led to the release of Tape B.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that El Khalaifi has been mentioned in the context of criminal involvement, when he was suspected of paying a bribe for the purchase of broadcast rights from FIFA. Last year, after Paris Saint-Germain's loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League, El Khalaifi went on a rampage and threatened an employee "I'll kill you," and then Leonardo tried to destroy the evidence and documentation.
