The Dutchman Max Verstappen dominated in almost every race in the Red Bull. What has to happen for him to win the world title in Singapore?
Singapore – The Formula 1 world championship title went to Max Verstappen in an incredible last race in 2021 and not to the defending champion Lewis Hamilton.
The race in Abu Dhabi caused a lot of controversy back then!
It even went so far that the former race director Michael Masi resigned from his position and was now transferred to other motorsport series.
However, a repetition of such events this season is more than unlikely.
Max Verstappen has won almost every one of the past 16 races.
His biggest rivals at the moment are his own teammate Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari.
But both drivers are more than 100 points behind Verstappen.
So far this season, he has already scored 335 points in the drivers' standings.
That's why he's also a favorite in Singapore.
What would have to happen in Singapore for Verstappen to become world champion?
With Ferrari's performance in question, there are certainly possibilities in which Max Verstappen could already get his second world title in Singapore:
Scenario 1:
Verstappen is first and grabs the fastest race lap - Leclerc only manages 8th place or less and Perez is maximum fourth.
Scenario 2:
Verstappen is first, but without the fastest race lap - then Leclerc should be ninth at most and Perez should not drive the fastest race lap in 4th place.
Scenario 3:
Verstappen is first, also without the fastest race lap - Leclerc is allowed to drive on P9 at most and Perez is maximum fifth with the fastest race lap.
So in theory, Verstappen could relax a bit - Leclerc could win every upcoming race, as long as Verstappen finishes second, the world title goes to him.
However, the Dutchman does not want to rely on this result: “Of course we also know that we have to finish the races without any problems first.
But when you start thinking that way, mistakes may creep in.
I think it's silly to talk about it now.
There are still so many risks, you just want to concentrate." (
