Football: injuries on the rise in Europe

The bodies of football players are put to the test.

As a direct consequence of the infernal pace denounced by many coaches, injuries are on the rise in the five major championships.

, injuries increased by 20% during the 2021-2022 season, compared to the previous season.

These injuries resulted in a cost of 610 million euros to the players according to said report.

According to the data, strikers over the age of 30 are more injury prone, with more than two injuries per game per season, on average.

The most affected PSG

We also learn that the Premier League is the league most affected by the cost of these injuries, with an estimated amount of 219 million euros (1,231 injuries, against 938 last year).

In club terms, it was PSG that received the highest score last year.

The report estimates the overall cost of the 91 injuries recorded in the capital club's XXL squad at 40.7 million euros last year.
