Earlier, it was Lewis Hamilton who dominated the first session.

It was the first time this season that the seven-time world champion finished first in a test session.

The 37-year-old Briton, only 6th in the world, is still waiting for a first victory in 2022. He has six races left to achieve it.

In this first session, Verstappen had taken the second fastest time.

In the second, however, he couldn't practice much, with only eight laps completed.

In question, several changes made to his single-seater, wasting some time.

Without this being detrimental to the driver with eleven victories in 16 Grands Prix this season.

Verstappen has yet to win here in Singapore, a race considered by the drivers to be the most demanding of the year, due to the hot and humid conditions but also the pace imposed by the circuit, clocked in by 23 corners and whose short lines straight lines offer little respite.

All surrounded by walls that leave no room for error.

Red Bull asked about budget cap

Even if it is hot in Singapore, for the return of F1 to Asian soil after two years of absence due to a pandemic, this is another subject which could plunge the paddock into turmoil in the coming days.

According to several media, teams exceeded the budget cap last year, imposed for the first time in F1 in 2021 and set at 145 million dollars (then around 142 million euros).

Three teams would be involved according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, two according to the German media Auto motor und sport.

Both media quoting Red Bull, defending champion among drivers thanks to Verstappen.

Our statement was definitely below the cap

,” Red Bull boss Christian Horner told Sky Sports F1, “

", for its part explained the FIA.

FIA certificates validating the teams' accounts for the 2021 financial year are expected next week.

Depending on the seriousness of the offence, the sanctions provided for range from a simple reprimand to exclusion from the championship, including withdrawal of points from the drivers' and/or constructors' championship.

According to Auto motor und sport, one of the teams would have "

earthquake

" if it was Red Bull.

In 2021, Verstappen won the world title at the very last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi against Lewis Hamilton, after a controversial end to the race because of an illegal safety car procedure which had redistributed the cards.
