That was a successful start to the season: EC Peiting won at home against Deggendorf in extra time - although they were behind at the beginning.

Peiting

– He is always in top form, present on the ice and often on the spot in crucial situations: No wonder that Andreas Feuerecker is allowed to lead the ice hockey Oberliga club EC Peiting as captain again this season.

Before the game on Friday evening at home against Deggendorfer SC, his two deputies were also announced.

And they are well known to the fans: Fabian Weyrich and Lukas Gohlke.

And the trio led his team to their first win of the season in the first game.

The golden goal in extra time came from a new signing: Samuel Payeur.

The Canadian switched from EV Füssen to ECP.

Peiting, significantly changed and rejuvenated compared to last year, got into the game well from the start.

The team didn't allow much at the back, but there were a few opportunities up front.

Newcomers Tobias Beck, Marc Besl and Sean Morgan tried their luck with tight shots.

But they didn't sit in the first third, just like the degrees from Feuerecker and Marco Habermann.

Ice hockey league: Peiting conceded a goal in the second third

That was punished right after the first break.

In the second half of the game, Peiting was outnumbered and conceded the 0:1 through Yannic Bauer after 16 seconds.

Peiting was unsure for a moment, lost the thread - but quickly found his way back to his game.

First Thomas Heger equalized with brains.

When he approached SC goalie Timo Pielmeier all by himself, he cleverly pushed the puck between his legs.

Shortly thereafter, Weyrich took a shot from the blue line - the shot grazed Payeur and ended in a wriggling net that meant the 2-1 lead.

The fact that two Peitingers – Louis Postel (stick) and Payeur (hook) – received a two-minute penalty within a minute can safely be described as clumsy.

But the outnumbered game had no consequences for the ECP,

Deggendorf couldn't find a way through the good defense of Peitinger.

But the compensation, it fell a few minutes later.

A full shot from René Röthke made it 2:2.

There were just 13 seconds to play in the second period.

That was enough for Peiting to take the lead again.

Manuel Bartsch shot from the blue line, the puck grazed Habermann and hit the siren that heralded the break to make it 3:2.

After 30 seconds in extra time: Payeur scores to make it 4:3

But Deggendorf did not give up.

Sascha Maul equalized ten minutes before the end.

After that, Peiting had to survive a three-a-side deficit again because it had two penalties twice.

Goalie Florian Hechenrieder made a sensational save once.

Then Lukas Gohlke and Markus Czogallik threw themselves into Deggendorfer's shots - they preferred bruises to conceding a goal.

This is how the people from Peitingen survived the next tricky situation as a team.

The game was completely open.

Both teams fought, vigorously but fairly.

With two minutes left on the clock, Deggendorf's Curtis Leinweber conceded a two-minute penalty - Peiting was now outnumbered, but this was hardly noticeable in the game.

And so the regular playing time ended with 3:3.

The overtime lasted only 30 seconds.

Then Payeur took heart, stormed down the right side in the direction of Deggendorfer Tor and carried the puck between the post and goalie into the mesh.

Payeur crowned his first competitive game for Peiting with this goal - and his team's season opener with a win.
