Soccer pro Jean-Paul Boëtius from the Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC does not need any chemotherapy after his testicular cancer operation.
On Friday, the midfielder, who had been operated on a week ago, received the positive results, as Hertha's press spokesman Max Jung announced at the press conference before the home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Sunday (3:30 p.m., TV: Sky).
"The international break was very emotional for us with Djanga's finding.
That's why we're happy that the course is similar to that of Marco," said Hertha coach Sandro Schwarz.
Back in June, Marco Richter was the first Herthan player to have a testicular cancer operation, but he also didn't need chemotherapy.
He then told SPIEGEL about his way back to the pitch.
Bundesliga colleagues Timo Baumgartl from local rivals 1. FC Union and Sebastien Haller from Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, needed chemotherapy.
Baumgartl has already celebrated his comeback, as has Richter, Haller will be out for a while.
In view of the increasing number of cases, the Berlin coaching team “clearly recommended that all players be examined as a precaution,” said Schwarz, adding: “I did it myself at the beginning of the week.”
