At the start of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd, a weakened EHC Klostersee from Grafing suffered a significant defeat.

Grafing

– EHC Klostersee has completed the first compulsory task of the Oberliga Süd adventure.

In the overpowering Blue Devils Weiden, weakened red-whites lost 0:5 on Friday evening despite a committed performance.

With a delay of three minutes, the hosting top favorite and reigning third division champions in the south and the promoted team started the Oberliga season.

This was not due to the traffic jam on the route to the Upper Palatinate, but to the more extensive entry ceremony on the first matchday.

From the first face-off, things mostly went in one direction, as expected.

The EHC was immediately confronted with a lot of defensive work and seemed nervous in the early minutes.

Philipp Hähl stood securely between the posts and gave the people in front increasing self-confidence.

Chad Bassen, a German-Canadian with over 800 appearances in the DEL under his belt (5th), started the 0:1 from the guest's point of view.

With the Blue Devils, he led the third line of attack, which on the one hand highlighted the balance in the Weiden squad and also the big difference between the teams.

EHC Klostersee at Blue Devils Weiden: Offensive courage is not rewarded

Towards the end of the third, more calm returned to Klostersee's actions, which became more offensively cheeky.

Philipp Quinlan, who replaced the sick Raphael Kaefer as captain, could even have made it 1-1 (16th).

Which would have been a bit too much of a good thing if the overpowering shot on goal balance in favor of the hosts.

How important it is to be wide awake in even the most inconspicuous situation, the EHC had to experience 30 seconds before the break siren when the 0:2 came about.

Red suspension and injuries weaken the EHC Klostersee

Yesterday, EHC Klostersee had to tackle the round of points in the Oberliga Süd with a severely decimated.

The Grafingers were missing from the permanent staff Yannick Kischer, Raphael Kaefer and Nicolai Quinlan injured or ill, as well as Lynnden Pastachak.

The Canadian striker received a game penalty in the Red and Whites' last friendly in Erding after the referees accused him of deliberately shooting in their direction.

Yesterday, the EHC management announced that it would accept the six championship game suspension (plus two on probation) imposed by the Ice Hockey Commission.

The Canadian will make his competitive debut in the 2022(23) season on Sunday, October 16th in the away derby at the Starbulls in Rosenheim.

Small mistakes with a big effect – this is how it went on: After a bad flying change and an unsuccessful attempt to break free via your own blue line, the score was 0:4 (23rd/25th).

The morale of Dominik Quinlan's team was still intact.

The Klosterseer deserved a goal in this phase.

But Weiden's keeper Jaroslav Hübl had the better answer when Florian Gaschke went it alone and Simon Roeder took control directly and was lucky when Joe Leonidas hit the post (31st/32nd).

Marc Bosecker was also denied the goal of honor in the last third (43'), in which the Blue Devils marked the final score with a majority (54').
