The Israel Police announced this evening (Saturday) that they arrested a resident of Hosan, a Maccabi Haifa fan, on suspicion of throwing a glass bottle at a Maccabi Tel Aviv fan and slightly injuring him at the entrance to the Sami Ofer Stadium, several hours before the match between the teams.

The injured fan was treated on the spot by a paramedic and taken to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and the suspect in the attack, a 19-year-old resident of Hosan, was arrested for questioning, with the police expected to make additional arrests.

The Israel Police stated: "The Israel Police will continue to act with all the tools at its disposal in order to exhaust the law, with those who commit violent crimes in general and those related to violence in sports in particular, while harming public security."
