The Olympic champion in skiing, Russia Veronika Stepanova, uploaded a post on social media last night (Friday), looking at the photo in which Israel's Olympic bronze medalist Avishag Samberg met with Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and demanded that she be allowed to return to competing.
As you may recall, in most disciplines, Russian athletes are suspended from competitions because of the invasion of Ukraine, but the gold medalist at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics appealed to the President of the Olympic Committee (IOC), in this unusual way, in order to change the decision.
The 21-year-old Stepanova wrote to her 92,000 followers: "Russian athletes can be accepted back into international sports, said International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. But there is a catch: this is on the condition that athletes with a Russian passport do not support the war."

"Seriously?! Mr. Bach expects us to condemn?? Here I am looking at a picture of an Israeli athlete, Avisheg Samberg, who won a bronze medal in the Olympic taekwondo tournament in Tokyo, being received by the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Major General Aviv Kochavi.
"Remind me, please, how many anti-government and anti-war statements Abisheg had to make before she was allowed to participate in international competitions? Or is it a different matter somehow?"
Stefanova clarified at the end of the post: "Let it be clear: I have nothing against Avisheg, who in my opinion should be allowed to compete without any restrictions or preconditions. But the same should apply to us, Mr. Bach."
