LeBron James scores 42 points in summer league (from Twitter)
The Los Angeles Lakers showed up tonight (between Friday and Saturday) once again in front of the cameras for the upcoming season, and all eyes were of course directed towards LeBron James, who will start his 20th season in the best league in the world in a few weeks.
"I came here in 2018 because I believed in this club and I'm still here, it's as simple as that," he told reporters regarding questions about the precarious state of the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I am committed to this club for the duration of my contract."
Regarding the amount of minutes he will play in the preseason, he said: "More than last season."
His new coach Darwin Hamm clarified: "We don't want to go crazy, but we do want to get him into a game rhythm, so that he arrives at the regular season in good shape."
About Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's points record that he might break this season, King James said: "I first thought about it only when someone talked about it on social media, and every time I'm shocked by that record. To know that I might break it, it's amazing. It's cool Very. Even to be mentioned in the same breath as Karim - that's unusual."
optimistic.

Still, when asked to pick the Lakers' all-time top five, LeBron left Kareem out.
"I'm going for Magic Johnson at center, Jerry West at 2, Kobe Bryant at 3, me at 4 and Shaquille O'Neal at center. I love Kareem, but Shaq is so dominant. We need a big man, If I play about 4".
Right now, it looks like the Lakers' five will include LeBron, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, along with Kendrick Nunn and Damian Jones.
"Kendrick is almost like a new player for us," Hamm said of the guard who missed most of last season due to injury.
"He will be a big part of what we do. Damian is a young inside player who runs like a deer and jumps to the ceiling."
