The Serbian, ranked first in the tournament and seventh in the world, had no difficulty in the first set when he broke twice the Russian ranked 104 in the world and ran to a quick 0:4.
His opponent got on the board for the first time in the sixth game, but after another break the set went to the Serb.
The second set was much closer as each of the players maintained their service shots, until Nola was able to break first in the ninth game but was immediately broken back, which led to a tiebreaker which Djokovic took with 6:7 (3).
In the battle for the title, Djokovic is waiting for the winner of the intriguing meeting between the Croatian Marin Cilic (2nd in the tournament and 16th in the world), who will meet in the semi-finals the French Constant Lestain (68th in the world).
