The Paralympic tennis player Ili Hayut fulfilled a dream, when he met with one of the best tennis players in the world - the Serbian Novak Djokovic, at the ATP tournament in Tel Aviv.
Hayut, who was a fighter in Magellan, and was injured after being asked by his commanders to jump from a Jeep Hummer into a pile of thorns they had collected as part of an 'initiation ceremony' held as a tradition in the company, put up a post on social networks, about the exciting experience he had.
"How many times in life do you get to make a dream come true?" said Hayut.
"Yesterday I had one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I finished training in the tennis hall, and suddenly I realize that the person coming up to train after me on the same court is Novak Djokovic, the number 1 tennis player in the world and one of the greatest athletes of our time, who came to play in Israel in the ATP 250 tournament that is held here in Israel (which is a crazy thing in itself)".
Hayut continued: "The meeting was completely coincidental - next week I am flying to a tournament in Switzerland, a tournament that takes place in a hall. I really wanted, in preparation for the tournament, to practice in a hall, but due to the plight of tennis halls in Israel, it is almost impossible. I turned to the chairman of the tennis association, Avi Peretz, who offered to help me and allow me to prepare for the important tournament.
"I arrived at a training session to prepare for the tournament, and I finished it when the number 1 tennis player in the world told me that I was an inspiration to him. I admit that it took me a few seconds before I was even able to speak because of the excitement and shock. After I found the words, I told him a little about myself and we took a picture together. There is no doubt that this is an experience that will stay with me For life and I'm the happiest that this chance meeting happened."
