Summary: All Saturday goals in the English league, Round 9 (Sport1)
Barcelona hosted Mallorca last night (Saturday) in a really suboptimal situation.
The players of the Spanish national team were worn out, the brakes were injured and the critical game against Inter in the Champions League in 3 days was on their minds.
But Barcelona, who won 0:1, has two big advantages over all other teams this season.
The first advantage is of course Robert Lewandowski, who scored a beautiful winning goal and raised his score to 9 goals (!) in only seven rounds.
Barca's second advantage this season is their great defense, which conceded just one goal in seven rounds.
Real Madrid, for comparison, conceded six goals in six rounds.
Conde and Araujo, who led Barca's defense at the start of the season, were sidelined through injuries but Gerard Pique came out of suspension, started the team and looked excellent as did Ter Stegen who took some tough shots and has kept a clean sheet for over 500 minutes.
Who else set a record in this game is Xavi, who overtook Zinedine Zidane's record and set a historic record of 18 consecutive away games without a loss.

"We have a great goalkeeper and he proves it every time," Busquets praised Ter Stegen after the game, "We should have scored another goal or two, but it's always difficult to come back after the national team break."
Xavi also commented on his team's excellent defense and said: "Once again we kept a clean sheet, that's important. Ter Stegen gave an amazing game. It was a really difficult game. They played with five in defense and four midfielders. The three points were very important.
For the excellent ability of Ter Stegen and Lewandowski: "It would not be correct to say that we depend on them.
There are other things, but they obviously made the difference for us.
Mark is in an amazing time.
Our back end looks great.
Jordi Alba and Pique were very good, Christensen too."

To the question of whether Pique will also start against Inter, Xavi said: "He can start. We have a squad with many quality players. We have games every three days. I have already told my players that they will get minutes and they will have to be ready."
On the record he broke: "If you break records and don't win titles, then the records are worth nothing. The fact that we do good results outside, it shows that we work well but we need to win titles."
About Lewandowski: "He is a world-class player, an amazing scorer. Perhaps the best striker in the world."
