With twenty points, the Bordelais are ahead of Amiens, victorious from Rodez on Saturday (1-0), thanks to a better goal difference and Sochaux (19 points), who stumbled on the lawn of Valenciennes (2-1).

In a rhythmic match rich in chances, David Guion's men made the difference in the second half thanks to Honduran striker Alberth Elis (69th), who relieved his teammates thirteen minutes after the Laval equalizer from Julien Maggiotti (56th), his fifth goal.

The Girondins had started their meeting perfectly by opening the scoring through the Anglo-Nigerian Josh Maja (5th), author of a beautiful strike on receipt of a corner.

The striker consolidated his status as Bordeaux's top scorer with 6 goals.

Ten minutes from time, Mayenne striker Geoffray Durbant thought his team could pick up the score but his headed goal was disallowed due to an offside position.

Relegated to Ligue 2 this season, the Bordelais, seven times champions of France, confirmed their good start to the season by collecting a sixth victory, the second in a row after a success in Dijon (2-1) on September 17.

On the other hand, Laval, who had raised his head at Quevilly-Rouen (3-1) two weeks ago, consecutively with four losses, remains stuck in the second part of the classification in 13th place.

The Mayenne club will have the opportunity to bounce back on Saturday in Grenoble (7:00 p.m.), while Bordeaux will host Metz at the start of the 11th day on Saturday (3:00 p.m.).
