Ukraine can apparently hope for the role of co-host of the 2030 World Cup.

According to consistent reports from several British media, the war-torn country is to be included in the joint bid by Spain and Portugal.

Accordingly, the games of a group could take place in Ukraine.

In 2012, the country hosted the European Championship finals together with Poland.

Among other things, the "Times", the "Guardian" and the TV broadcaster Sky Sports reported about it.

As the "Times" reports, this plan is to be made public by the heads of the associations from Spain and Portugal on Wednesday.

So far, however, there has been no official statement from the associations, Fifa or Uefa.

Asia, Africa, South America, Europe

In addition to Spain, Portugal and possibly Ukraine, there are other contenders to host the World Cup in eight years.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece want to apply together.

100 years after the first World Cup in 1930 in the country of the two-time world champion, Uruguay would also like to bring the tournament back to South America together with Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.

The world association Fifa wants to award the World Cup at its 74th Congress in 2024.

After the finals in Qatar (20 November to 18 December), the 2026 tournament will take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Then, for the first time, 48 teams will take part in the World Cup.
