The Israel Police announced this morning (Thursday) that they arrested eight suspects, Beitar Jerusalem fans, for causing damage to a vehicle in Givatayim.
Givatayim police officers began an extensive search after an incident was received in Givatayim on Monday night about a vehicle emitting smoke, when masked men fled the scene in a vehicle.
The policemen who arrived at the scene noticed that the windshield of the car had been smashed while a smoke flare had been thrown into it.
During searches by extensive forces, eight suspects matching the description were located on Highway 4, near a gas station at the Sayir interchange.
The suspects, Beitar fans, committed the acts due to a rivalry and conflict with Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, were arrested and taken to the police station for questioning, at the end of which two minors were imprisoned and six adults were released under restrictive conditions to house arrest.
The Israel Police stated: "The Israel Police takes crimes of this type very seriously and will continue to act with all the tools at its disposal to bring to justice those who commit crimes related to sports, and this while harming public security."
