The new Fifa ranking published on Thursday sees the Blues remain in 4th place, while the Seleçao confirms its influence in the hollow

In search of a sixth star at the World Cup in Qatar (November 20-November 18), Brazil will obviously be the favorite.

A trend corroborated by the new Fifa ranking published on Thursday.

Brazil, which had dethroned Belgium from the place of leader in March, consolidated its rank of world No.1 in September.

For its part, France, outgoing world champion, ousted from the podium in June, stagnates in fourth place in the ranking.

After a very mixed month of June, the Blues did not raise their heads in September with a victory against Austria (2-0), then a defeat against Denmark (2-0) in the League of Nations.

Didier Deschamps' team now has 1759.78 points.

With the approach of the World Cup, the "Auriverde" (1841.30 pts) consolidated their first place in the world thanks to major successes against Ghana (3-0) and Tunisia (5-1) in a friendly in September.

The Brazilian selection led by Neymar thus widens the gap over Belgium (1816.71 pts), which remains second after having dominated the world hierarchy continuously between October 2018 and March 2022.

The Argentina of Lionel Messi, holder of the Copa America, remains for its part on the third step of the podium with 1773.88 points, in a top 5 unchanged compared to June, with France therefore fourth and the England fifth.

The only change in the top 10 concerns European champions Italy (6th), which overtook Spain (7th).

However, the Nazionale is not qualified for the World Cup.

Finally, Croatia, vice-world champion 2018, is making good progress, rising to 12th place in this ranking, just behind Germany (11th).

The next Fifa ranking will be published on December 22, four days after the World Cup final.
