The top duel between BVB and FC Bayern is coming up in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Thomas Müller threatens to drop out.

He would be extremely important.

This credo was once proclaimed by none other than Louis van Gaal at FC Bayern.

That was in 2010. And with very few exceptions, Müller has actually always played for the German record champions since then.

The top game against Borussia Dortmund is now on Saturday.

Both teams are level on points in the Bundesliga (15).

And now, of all times, Müller threatens to drop out.

The original Bavarian tested positive for the corona virus.

Whether he can return to the pitch against BVB depends on when he tests negative again - and whether Müller is fit again at all.

Statistics show why Müller is so important for Bayern Munich

From Bayern's point of view, his commitment would be immensely important.

This is also shown by statistics.

Müller has so far played 40 duels with FCB against Dortmund.

He has scored 12 goals and nine assists so far.

No player in the current Bayern squad has more scorer points.

Only Robert Lewandowski can surpass this value (30).

But the Pole has been scoring his goals for FC Barcelona since this season.

It would be all the more important for FC Bayern if Müller got fit again in time for the classic.

It would be his 41st BVB duel.

Recently, youngster Jamal Musiala had also raved about Müller.

“His IQ is really high in football.

He understands things that I sometimes don't even see," said Musiala after the game against Bayer Leverkusen (4-0).

Nagelsmann: "Then they won't play"

But not only Müller, Joshua Kimmich also fell ill with Covid at the same time.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann made it clear before the game: "If they can't be tested on Friday, they won't play."

Müller himself spoke up via Instagram and revealed: "I'm doing very well so far.

Of course I hope that it stays that way, I'm confident that I can return to the pitch quickly." (nc)
