Two games, two wins: EC Peiting got off to a good start in the Oberliga - in contrast to Toptems Memmingen and Riessersee, against whom the ECP has to do this weekend.

Peiting

– There was little to complain about at EC Peiting about the result of the first weekend in the Oberliga Süd with a total of five points.

However: Coach Anton Saal was only satisfied with the performance in the home game against Deggendorf.

"Against Füssen I was too lazy," said Saal after the arduous 3-2 win against the old masters from the Allgäu.

Peiting's coach Saal sees his team as outsiders twice

His team can't afford such negligence in the next two appearances.

This Friday, October 7th, the ECP has to go to ECDC Memmingen (8 p.m.), which fought its way to the final in the play-off last season, and on Sunday, October 9th, SC Riessersee will come to the prestigious derby in Peiting ( 6 p.m.).

"These will be two extremely difficult tasks, both opponents have well-equipped teams in terms of their names," Saal sees his squad as outsiders against the top-class competition, which he counts among the top teams in the league.

Riessersee lost twice, Memmingen three times

A look at their opening balance does not change that.

Both Memmingen (three games) and the SCR (two games) are still pointless.

"We won't let that blind us, but of course we can play with a lot of confidence," he sees his team equipped with a lot of self-confidence thanks to the successful start.

Saal was very satisfied with the presentation of the Payeur-Besl-Miller series.

In his opinion, however, the formation with Heger, Brassard and Gohlke "wasn't quite there yet".

The coach expects an increase from this trio.

Good reference for Peiting's young strikers

Saal also gives good marks to his young strikers.

"They push hard from behind," praises Saal, who will therefore also operate with four lines of attack in the next two games.

"You can save energy with that and still have reserves at the back," says Saal, referring to the goal in extra time against Deggendorf and the late goals in Füssen.

Peiting still without a hit in the majority game

The focus of training during the week at the ECP was on the majority game.

"We've been too playful up to now, it has to get better," says Saal, after his team hasn't scored a power play goal yet.

That could well be a decisive factor next weekend.

Memmingen conceded a number of goals in their three defeats against Bad Tölz (2:5), Weiden (1:6) and Höchstadt (2:5).

The Allgäu, where there was a similar upheaval to the ECP with eleven newcomers in the summer and who also have a new coach in Björn Lindström, are therefore under pressure.

"They may still have to find each other, but they have a good squad," says Saal about the Memmingers, who the ECP knows from the two preparatory games that both narrowly lost 3:4.

Reunion with ex-Peitinger Lubor Dibelka

SC Riessersee is also a good friend, even if the last derby to date was seven months ago.

At that time, the people from Peiting lost 4:5 to their old rivals at home.

The overall balance of the four duels from last year is balanced, the ECP and Riessersee each won twice.

The Werdenfelser, who will continue to be coached by Pat Cortina, also brought eleven new players, including Lubor Dibelka, once in Peitinger's service, from the DEL2 relegated Tölzer Löwen.

This week the Garmisch-Partenkirchner presented a new defender with the Finn Ville Hyvärinen.

As with Memmingen, the engine of the SCR also sputtered at the start of the season.

The team left the ice as losers against Rosenheim (3:6) and Höchstadt (3:5).

"You may already have some pressure", speculates Saal,

whereas his team can go into the derby more relaxed.

With the exception of the ailing Tim Rohrbach, whose use is questionable, he can draw on plenty of personnel.
