On Sunday there will be a Bavarian league duel between the hosts Peißenberg and the Schongauers.

A derby in which there has always been a lot going on.

Peißenberg/Schongau – A good two weeks ago, EA Schongau and the Peißenberg “Miners” faced each other in a preparatory game.

The two district rivals will meet again next Sunday (5:45 p.m., ice rink on Pestalozzistraße in Peißenberg).

This time, however, this comparison has a greater meaning, because it is about points in the Bavarian league.

"We're looking forward to the derby and the hopefully many spectators," says Peißenberg's coach Sepp Staltmayr, who won the test match in Schongau 7-3 with his team, which really annoyed EAS trainer Rainer Höfler.

"We were the better team for 40 minutes, but every mistake we made was punished," complained Höfler, who expects a more concentrated performance from his men in Peißenberg this time.

"It won't be an easy game because the 'Miners' have a good squad and a good goalkeeper," said Höfler.

Miners and mammoths respect each other

He has great respect for his neighbor, whom he himself has trained for half a year.

There are similar statements about the opponent from the Peissenbergers.

“We know about the quality of the Schongauer.

We'll see a different team on Sunday than we did in preparation," says Staltmayr, referring to the two defeats against EAS last season.

However, the “Miners” also won the derby twice, so the bottom line is that the balance sheet is balanced.

The Peißenbergers' preparation for the derby wasn't optimal.

"We missed a few players in training due to illness.

I hope they'll be fit again by the weekend," reports Staltmayr, who is confident of being able to muster the same three offensive lines that were there in the win against Waldkraiburg in the opening game last Sunday.

In the EAS, only Lubos Velebny is missing from the 7:3 victory in Geretsried because of a strain.

EA Schongau expect EHC Koenigsbrunn

This Friday, the "Mammuts" are still challenged in the home game against EHC Königsbrunn (8 p.m.).

"An absolute top team that has been continuously strengthened," reports Höfler.

For him, the "Pinguine" are among the title contenders in the Bayernliga.

With goalkeeper Stefan Vajs (Kaufbeuren) from the DEL2 and Marco Sternheimer (Augsburg) from the DEL, Königsbrunn got prominent reinforcements.

There is also a reunion with Jeff Szwez, who played for EAS two years ago.

The Königsbrunners won their first game 4:1 against EC Pfaffenhofen.

TSV Peißenberg at EC Pfaffenhofen

The Peissenbergers are guests there this Friday (8 p.m.).

The "Miners" also meet a former teammate.

Jonathan Kornreder switched to the ECP before the season and is now in charge there.

The goalie is one of a dozen new players in last year's penultimate round.

The Pfaffenhofen team, coached by Petr Fical, also lost their top scorer, Nick Endress (Miesbach).

"The game won't be easy and we won't underestimate our opponents," said Staltmayr ahead of the away game.

Last season, the Peissenbergers easily prevailed twice (6:3 and 10:0).

Staltmayr and his colleague from Schongau agree on the goal for the weekend: "Three points are our goal, but six would be best," said Staltmayr and Höfler in unison.
