For the badly decimated and very young squad of ESC Dorfen, it was only enough for a third on Friday evening, then they had to admit defeat to ERSC Amberg 1:5 (1:0, 0:3, 0:2).

Dorfen – "Now the epidemic is starting again," ESC coach Franz Steer broke out before the game.

Nine men were missing, including leaders such as Tomas Vrba, Gasper Susanj and Ukraine's Dmytro Isayenko.

After all, the long-injured Sandro Schroepfer was back and with Fabio Lauffer another 17-year-old.

Ten seconds were played when, after a lightning attack via Schroepfer Amberg's goalkeeper Timon Bätge against Felix Wiedenhofer, he was just able to prevent the impact.

In return, Max Englbrecht had to do everything in the ESC goal against Brett Mennear.

The pace stayed high, the ice pirates recorded more game shares and goal opportunities.

The biggest after eight minutes, when, after Seppi Folger's break, Fabio Lauffer came in the best position for a follow-up shot, but the puck didn't find its way over the line.

Amberg conceded the only penalty in this third of the game.

Schroepfer crowned a perfect majority game when he threw the puck under the crossbar after Urban Sodja's ingenious cross pass.

The half-time lead was well deserved.

Christoph Hradek with a margin and Schroepfer, who only hit the post after losing a puck in Amberg, could, almost had to, extend the lead.

Then more and more Amberg took over, and Englbrecht got plenty of work.

Ironically, a guest penalty brought the game to a tipping point.

During a break, Englbrecht stopped the puck and opponent, and Mennear, who was fouled, converted the penalty to 1:1.

Amberg was now master of the house.

Within 57 seconds, Anthony Hermer and Shawn Campbell shot out a 3-1 break.

Dorfen brought a five-minute penalty against Folger in the final third and conceded the 1:4 through Felix Feder 27 seconds after the restart.

The game was decided.

And a play down, garnished with a tussle with a double penalty for both sides and the fifth ERSC goal by Felix Köbele.
