The French Amandine Buchard, Olympic vice-champion in Tokyo last year, won the bronze medal in -52 kg at the World Judo Championships on Friday in Tashkent.
Buchard beat Mongolian Khorloodoi Bishrelt on waza-ari in the repechage final.
She managed to regroup after her defeat in the semi-final against the formidable Japanese Uta Abe, the one who had deprived her of Olympic gold in the final in Tokyo.
At 27, she won her third world bronze medal after 2014 (in -48 kg) and 2018. This is the first podium for France in this edition of the Worlds.
