Mandatory victory in Grafing: Without overexerting themselves, the Tölzer Löwen secured an unchallenged 5-1 victory at EHC Klostersee, bottom of the Oberliga, on Friday evening.

They were superior to the bottom of the table, who will have a hard time in the Oberliga, in all respects and only had to survive short, dicey phases.

A very confident performance by the Tölzer Löwen in Grafing.

The only possible reproach in the 5-1 win on Friday evening: that the Tölzer Löwen didn't close the sack earlier.

"Our goal was three points, I'm glad we achieved that," said Löwen coach Ryan Foster.

With the third win in the third game, the lions climb to fourth place in the Oberliga.

Confident victory thanks to a strong Salvarani

After an interim 1:1 equalization and a 3:1 lead through hits exclusively from the second line of attack, the lions missed the decisive goal.

Grafing had chances to score through Joseph Leonidas, a power play situation shortly before the end and another when EHC keeper Philipp Hähl left his box early in favor of a sixth field player.

But Ludwig Nirschl hit the empty goal, Henry Sihling made the final score with a wrist shot.

It wasn't really difficult in this phase either.

The hosts were too harmless, they let the discs be ripped off and placed in the net too easily.

Three big saves for Salvarani

It was only dangerous beforehand.

The Löwen started flawlessly, powerfully, Oliver Ott sank in the follow-up shot after Niklas Hörmann failed at the keeper after Hannes Sedlmayr's fine pass.

But out of nowhere, Klostersee, who had hardly had a chance before, came back with the 1-1 through Nicolai Quinlan.

And then the Tölzers were able to thank keeper Enrico Salvarani, who stopped Julian Dengl's solo effort shortly before the end of the third and thwarted two huge Klosterseer chances after the break.

"He held up well," says Foster.

Empty net hit breaks resistance

And Tölz gives the opportunity to win.

Max Brandl scored to make it 2-1, Erik Gollenbeck, who played a nice backhand in the slot from Brandl, shot to make it 3-1.

"The reassuring leadership has started the pendulum swinging back in our direction," says Foster.

But he still saw a strong phase of the hosts.

"In the final third we were a bit lucky that Klostersee didn't make anything of his chances." But the resistance was finally broken with the empty net hit.

And the lions continue to receive the undefeated EHF Passau on Sunday.
