Sadio Mané's move to Bayern Munich was one of the most notable transfers of the summer.
An expert is now criticizing the business.
Munich – Is Sadio Mané the new Robert Lewandowski in the Bayern squad?
Top scorer, star striker, safe bank?
That's how it was originally planned when the transfer of millions became known.
But things didn't work out in the meantime: Mané had difficulties in his new environment, wasn't very present on the pitch and remained goalless.
The criticism got louder: Does Mané keep what his transfer fee promises?
Does he have team leader qualities?
But now the striker seems to have survived his mini-crisis.
In Bayern Munich's last two games, he showed what he's capable of, scored two goals and played well in the team.
Could Liverpool FC have held Mané?
His former club, Liverpool FC, on the other hand, is still in crisis: successful coach Jürgen Klopp and his team made a terrible false start in the English Premier League.
Only two wins after seven match days and ninth place in the table for the champions of 2020 - that does not meet the expectations of the fans or the board.
In these times of need, one longs for the good old days.
Paul Merson, a former Premier League professional, sees Mané's departure as the reason for the current crisis in the "Reds": "Selling him for 30 million euros is a cup of coffee in the world of the Premier League," criticized Merson on
Sky SportsUK
.
The amount of the transfer fee was not reasonable.
Merson's unequivocal verdict on the Mané transfer: "The worst deal ever."
Mané was the "leader of attack" at Liverpool FC
The former professional explains his assessment: "We're talking about a man who scored crucial goals for this club, he was the leader of the attack and I'm not just saying that because of the numbers." Other experts also agree that that Mané left a huge gap at Liverpool FC.
In 269 games for the club, the Senegalese scored 120 goals and won both the championship and the Champions League with the "Reds".
Merson finds good reasons not to let Mané go under any circumstances: “They brought Darwin Núnez, who is not even playing in the same league at the moment.
Wouldn't it have made much more sense to keep Mané and let him go on a free transfer at the end of the season?” Perhaps Mané himself mourned the loss of his former club when he was still having difficulties at Bayern Munich.
But now it seems as if he has fully arrived in Munich.
