Auch die Euphorie im Umfeld habe er wahrgenommen, doch er wolle sich auf das konzentrieren, dass er direkt beeinflussen kann: „Du merkst schon im Stadion, dass die Fans zufrieden sind mit dem Auftreten in dieser Saison. Wichtig ist, dass wir konstant an der Grenze arbeiten müssen.“ Daher hänge er die Stimmung bei den Fans nicht zu hoch. Und über Hoffenheim verliert er auch ein paar Worte: „Eine Mannschaft, die auch Fußball spielen will“, mit „viel Bewegung. Das macht es einfach vom Zugriff schwieriger, und das ist heute unsere Hauptaufgabe gegen den Ball.“

20.07 Uhr: Wir sind mal gespannt, ob Bundestrainer Hansi Flick heute im Stadion gesichtet wird, und ob er nur aus alter Verbundenheit dort verweilt – Flick stammt aus der Region und war zwischen 2000 und 2005 Trainer der TSG in Ober- und Regionalliga – oder ob er erschienen ist, um sich einen Spieler der Gäste anzuschauen ...

20.02 Uhr: Bremen steht als Aufsteiger mit zwölf Punkten auf Platz acht. Das ist durchaus ordentlich. Und das ist auch der guten Auswärtsbilanz zu verdanken. Mit zwei Siegen und zwei Unentschieden ist Werder in dieser Saison auf des Gegners Platz noch ungeschlagen. Es ist also gut möglich, dass heute eine Serie reißt: Die Heim-Serie von Hoffenheim oder die Auswärts-Serie von Bremen.

19.57 Uhr: Tabellarisch hingegen ist Hoffenheim leichter Favorit. Mit 14 Punkten aus acht Spielen steht die Breitenreiter-Elf derzeit auf Platz fünf, könnte bei einem Sieg mit vier Toren Unterschied sogar über Nacht an die Tabellenspitze springen. Gerade zu Hause hat Hoffenheim mit drei Siegen und einem Unentschieden bislang durchaus zu überzeugen gewusst. Zuletzt spielte die Mannschaft allerdings zweimal nur unentschieden (0:0 gegen Freiburg, 1:1 bei Hertha).

19.51 Uhr: Wir schauen mal auf die Statistik beider Vereine in direkten Duellen. Die ist aus Werder-Sicht erfreulich: In 28 Duellen gewann Werder zwölfmal, verlor nur sechs Spiele und spielte zehnmal unentschieden. Die jüngsten Begegnungen hingegen verliefen nicht so schön aus Werder-Sicht: Aus den vergangenen vier Partien holte Grün-Weiß nur einen Punkt. 19.34 Uhr: Damit spielen weder Pieper noch Bittencourt. Das ist ein wenig überraschend, aber wahrscheinlich auch die logische Konsequenz aus der hervorragenden Leistung genau dieser elf Männer, die so bereits gegen Gladbach gespielt haben.

Hollywood hat sie längst entdeckt, die Geschichten, in denen sich die nächtlichen Gedanken im Kopf manipulativ beeinflussen lassen. Doch weil sich der SV Werder Bremen zuletzt alles andere als ermüdend präsentiert hat, stehen derzeit auch in Bremen ungeahnte Fantastereien hoch im Kurs – so sangen beim begeisternden 5:1 gegen Mönchengladbach etliche Fans schon vom Europapokal. Gesorgt hat dafür Ole Werner mit seiner Mannschaft. Statt filmreifer Hilfsmittel genügten dafür mitreißende Spielzüge und konsequente Torabschlüsse. Die Erinnerungen daran zaubern vielen Fans auch Tage später noch ein ebenso seliges wie ungläubiges Lächeln ins Gesicht. „Ich werde und kann niemandem vorschreiben, was er träumen möchte oder zu träumen hat“, betonte Werders Coach dennoch. Weil er weiß, dass dieses Gefühl der Euphorie auch ganz schnell wieder verfliegen kann. Vielleicht schon am Freitag im Spiel gegen die TSG Hoffenheim (20.30 Uhr im DeichStube-Live-Ticker). Doch einfacher werden die Aufgaben nicht. Die gastgebende TSG Hoffenheim hat es momentan beispielsweise bis auf Tabellenplatz fünf geschafft. „Die Hoffenheimer stehen zurecht dort, wo sie stehen“, urteilte Ole Werner. „Das ist eine sehr spielstarke Mannschaft mit vielen guten Fußballern. Vom Spielstil her ist sie den Mönchengladbachern ganz ähnlich.“

Für meine Begriffe ist auf manchen Positionen auch noch etwas mehr Geschwindigkeit vorhanden“, zählte er auf. „Deshalb ist das vom Charakter her sicherlich eine ähnliche, aber auch schwierigere Aufgabe. Wir müssen gucken, dass wir die gleiche Aggressivität, Intensität, Kommunikation und den gleichen Mut im Ballbesitz auf dem Platz haben.“ Vier Faktoren also, die im Spiel bei der TSG Hoffenheim eine Formel ins Bremer Glück bilden sollen. „Wenn wir das hinbekommen und unseren Teil erfüllen“, unterstrich Ole Werner, „dann kann das durchaus wieder ein enges Spiel werden.“

Mit einem 5:1-Triumph im Rücken klingt diese Einschätzung reichlich untertrieben. Doch Ole Werner schaut lieber auf die Erfahrungen des bisherigen Verlaufs einer Saison, in die seine Elf ursprünglich mal als Außenseiter gegangen ist, sich nun aber in Windeseile den Respekt der Gegner und wichtige Punkte erspielt hat. Nicht irgendwie, sondern auf die ureigene Werder-Art. „Wir haben immer gesagt, dass wir einen aktiven und mutigen Fußball spielen wollen. Da ist es natürlich schön zu sehen, dass uns das in der Form auch gelingt“, lobte Clemens Fritz als Leiter Profifußball bei Werder Bremen vor der Partie gegen die TSG Hoffenheim.
