The SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz remains unbeaten in the eighth league game in a row, but the 1-1 draw against the U23s of TSG Hoffenheim should still feel like a small defeat.
Ex-pro Nick Proschwitz headed just before the end to equalize.
The SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz remains in fourth place in the Regionalliga Südwest for the time being.
The game had already started with good news for SGB fans, as Leon Pomnitz was able to play in the game against Kickers Offenbach after being substituted through injury and was in the starting XI.
SGB trainer Sedat Gören sent the same starting eleven into the race.
Draw against Hoffenheim's U23: SG Barockstadt unbeaten in the eighth game
TSG Hoffenheim's U23s fielded one of the youngest teams in recent years.
Only the 26-year-old captain Sören Dieckmann and the 22-year-old Ilay Elmkies, who already has five caps for Israel and one goal for his country, stood out from the young starting XI.
Peppered with many young talents: Eduardo Quaresma was loaned out by Sporting Lisbon before the season, Fisnik Asllani is a German youth international and has already scored six times this season.
Another goal did not come in Fulda - because TSG seemed too playful in many scenes offensively and as a result some attacks fizzled out.
On the other hand, the SG Barockstadt was defensively good and also had the full-backs under control, who kept attacking.
However, the hosts missed the goal threat in the first round, only central defender Aaron Frey approached with a shot from 25 meters.
Nick Proschwitz will play a leading role in both goals
In the half-time break, Gören turned this knob, his team came out of the dressing room much more offensively, recorded three good shots, of which TSG captain Dieckmann had the best when he steered the ball with his chest in the direction of his own goal (54th).
After that, the game fell asleep a bit.
A lot happened in midfield, Hoffenheim, on the other hand, remained awkward in terms of their own goal chances.
TSG coach Vincent Wagner therefore reacted and brought in the experienced Proschwitz for the invisible Asllani.
The first action of the 35-year-old was a body check against Eric Ganime, the following free-kick from Pomnitz was put across by Patrick Schaaf, who headed the ball into the goal (75').
The guests then became more determined, Nick Breitenbücher missed a great opportunity before Proschwitz proved his quality in the opponent's penalty area and headed the equalizer (87th).
