Toulouse widens the gap

With the defeat of La Rochelle in Bayonne (29-13) and Montpellier in Castres (26-13), Toulouse had the opportunity to widen a first gap in the ranking of the Top 14. It's done: after the last match of this 6th day (Lyon-UBB, Sunday evening at 9:05 p.m.), the Hauts-Garonnais will be six points ahead of Toulon (2nd, 17 pts) and La Rochelle (3rd, 17 pts).

A first break obtained thanks to the precious victory at the champion of France Montpellier last week, but also to the offensive bonus obtained this Saturday evening against Clermont.

Ramos at almost perfect

A double, 26 points, and almost faultless against the poles: Thomas Ramos delivered an impressive performance.

Since the start of the season, the Toulouse opener has not seemed disturbed by the arrival of Melvyn Jaminet, and he proved it again this evening.

The usual full-back led the game with clever kicks and skillful occupation of the pitch.

The former Columérin offered himself a double with an interval shot in the first period (26th), then on an interception from Sofiane Guitoune (51st).

He completed his overall performance with a 7/8 against poles, including some corner kicks.

With 26 points, the international (17 caps) fails seven points short of the record for points scored by a player in a Top 14 match,

The convincing return of the internationals

They were missing against Montpellier: the French internationals of Stade Toulousain made their return to the lawn of Ernest Wallon, and successfully.

Moved in the first period, the vast majority of these executives delivered a solid copy: Antoine Dupont was challenged by the promising Baptiste Jauneau, 18, but played fair, Anthony Jelonch accommodated himself well to repositioning at the second line position due to the many absences from the post, Peato Mauvaka made a dynamic entry, and Pierre-Louis Barassi made sharp races.

In short, the lights are green pending the return of Romain Ntamack.

flops

A one-sided second half

When debriefing the meeting, the Clermontois will not have to look far to explain the knockdown received in Occitania: the Asemites quite simply received a terrible 26-0 in the second period, and were unable to materialize their highlight.

They conceded two tries on interception after returning from the locker room (Ramos (51st), Roumat (66th)) which put an end to the suspense.

What followed was just a wave of trial situations for the locals.

Clermont, a fatal turnover

After two reassuring successes over La Rochelle (22-13) and Lyon (43-20), Jono Gibbes' ASM had chosen to rotate for the next deadlines.

If the New Zealand manager can derive some satisfaction from young people, the bets were too numerous to be all successful: the express return of Pumas Tomas Lavanini and Bautista Delguy, the return from injury of Cheikh Tiberghien or the move of Damian Penaud to the center .

The bench, far too young, paid for its inexperience at the end of the game (three players under 21).

A controversial essay… but very valid

The first period was marked by a try at first sight banal: a ball carried conquering the Clermontois, and the hooker Adrien Pélissié who collapses behind the in-goal line.

The referee, Benoît Rousselet, awarded the try.

But after watching video, it appeared that the former Bordeaux-Bèglais lost control of the ball before flattening.

However, no angle offered by the broadcaster showed that the ball was no longer clearly in contact with the hooker.

The referee could not say with certainty that the ball was no longer in possession of the ball, he awarded the try.
