The never-ending debate about the identity of the best footballer in history received another opinion from the old British football magazine Four Four Two, which ranked the 100 greatest footballers of all time.
In first place stands the one who is considered by many to be the best footballer in the world today, as well as the best in history, Lionel Messi.
The flea, who won seven Golden Balls and countless other team and individual titles, was honored at the top of the ranking and beat the object of his admiration in the form of Diego Armando Maradona, another Argentine star who managed to bring his team the World Cup in 1986. In third place was Messi's eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who holds five Golden Balls, five Champions League trophies and a historic win at Euro 2016 with the Portuguese national team.
The top five are closed by the players of the Brazilian national team, Pele, and the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane.
The one who failed to enter the top ten is Gerd Müller, star of the German national team and former Bayern Munich, while the one who preceded him is the Brazilian Ronaldo.
In front of the striker, who currently owns the Spanish Real Valladolid, are Franz Puskas in ninth place, German Franz Beckenbauer, who is the highest ranked defender, George Best of Northern Ireland and Johan Cruyff in fifth place.
