Julian Nagelsmann no longer wants to be a “talent coach” at Bayern Munich.

Ex-FCB boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rubs new salt in the wound with a Klopp comparison.

Munich – Julian Nagelsmann doesn't have it easy these days.

The FC Bayern coach has had to put up with a lot of criticism after the 2-2 draw in Dortmund and just one win in the last six Bundesliga games.

There is also the discussion about his young age – Nagelsmann is only 35.

Nagelsmann is described as a "teaching talent" by many experts and also from within the company's own ranks.

The FCB coach recently reacted visibly irritated.

Ex-Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is now teasing him with a comparison to Jürgen Klopp and a Bayern coaching legend.

Julian Nagelsman

"Trainer talent" Nagelsmann at FC Bayern?

Rummenigge follows up with Klopp comparison

When Sky moderator Sebastian Hellmann commented that ex-Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had called him a "trainer talent", Nagelsmann said: "Everyone says that, not just Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

(...) In my opinion, too many say it in any case." The Bayern coach then added defiantly: "I'm also a talented coach, and I'm proud of it.

I do my best every day, I know that.

Everything else should be evaluated by others.”

After the classic, Rummenigge clarified his statements and put them into perspective, only to add them again a little later.

"At the age of 35, it's totally ok to still make mistakes.

He's not Jürgen Klopp or Louis van Gaal yet, but that's ok," said the 67-year-old at

about Nagelsmann.

Both Klopp with Liverpool FC and van Gaal with Bayern have already won the Champions League in their coaching careers.

According to Rummenigge, Nagelsmann could one day advance into this squad.

"I didn't see it critically that Nagelsmann was described as a talent.

He will have to deal with the pressure in Munich and also have to learn, but that's ok.

He will develop splendidly, I'm sure of that."

Rummenigge also refers to Nagelsmann's young age, but does not necessarily see it as a disadvantage.

“Basically, the word talent is a praise.

Someone has great potential, at 35 Nagelsmann is a young man.

Pep Guardiola won the Champions League for the first time at the age of 38.

Now he's one of the best coaches in the world," said the former Bayern CEO.

Rummenigge also refers to Jupp Heynckes as one of the most successful coaches in the club's recent history.

“Not long ago I had a conversation with Jupp Heynckes who said: 'I didn't have the experience on my first station either'.

He did great in his second career.

And that's the kind of experience a coach has to have," said Rummenigge.

Heynckes was only partially convincing in his first Bayern term between 1987 and 1991 with two championships.

After his return 20 years later, he won the treble in 2013.

FC Bayern: Nagelsmann does not see himself as a "trainer talent" - and questions himself

Despite his young age, Nagelsmann sees himself as an experienced coach.

The Landsberger points out that he has been in the coaching business with youth stations for almost 15 years.

From 2016 to 2019 he coached TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, then RB Leipzig until his move to Munich in the summer of 2021.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer jumps to his side to support him.

"It is always said that Julian Nagelsmann is a young coach.

And this is more or less equated: Well, he still has to learn.

I believe that each of us has to learn.

All of life is a learning process," Hainer explained in the program "Blickpunkt Sport" on BR television.

Age does not play a decisive role: "I can only say that he is a very reflective, very intelligent man who knows exactly what is important and what he has to do." Nagelsmann is constantly questioning himself. The Bayern coach flew last but a separate statement around the ears.
